Porsche 911er GT3

The Porsche 911er GT3 is a high performance version of Porsche 911 sports car. It is the latest model in a long line of high performance cars which began with the 1973 Porsche 911 RS. The GT3 is named after the FIA GT class which was intended for. It has a 3.8 litre naturally-aspirated 6 cylinder engine based on the unit was used in the Porsche 962 and 911 GT1 race cars.

Since it's launch back in 1999 many of variations were designed for road and track. Those have been added to the range. The current range of 997 includes 2 road and 3 racing models. Also, Porsche is currently developing a new hybrid version which uses two electric engines plus a Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems initially developed for Formula One.

The Porsche GT3 has had a very successful racing career in the one make national Porsche Carrera Cup series, the international Porsche Supercup and won a lot of championship and endurance races plus the GT class of the American Le Mans Series 7 times, the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 24 Hours Nürburgring 5 times.
